Übersicht |
England, 1760-1815. The Blackadder family's fortunes have rather plummeted with the advent of the Regency period. Edmund Blackadder, butler to the Prince Regent, veers from calamity to disaster with little in the way of constructive help from his imbecilic Lord and Master - or Baldrick, of whom the least said the better.
Episodes:
1. Dish and Dishonesty
The House of Commons, now led by William Pitt the Younger, sets out to bankrupt the Prince Regent. Blackadder has a plan to stop them, but it'll involve a rigged by-election and new MP - there's only one man for the job...
2. Ink and Incapability
When Baldrick appears to have used the sole copy of Dr. Johnson's Dictionary as fuel in the Prince's fireplace, Blackadder fears for his life at the hands of Samuel and his enraged, opium-fiend friends. He immediately sets about trying to write a new one...
3. Nob and Nobility
The Scarlet Pimpernel is at the height of his activities sneaking aristocrats out of revolutionary France, and Blackadder is not too pleased at the sudden overrunning of London with the objectionable garlic-munchers. He decides to prove the Pimpernel's actions as overrated by rescuing an aristo himself - or not...
4. Sense and Senility
As the British anarchist movement grows in number, the Prince becomes more wary of threats upon his life. He is also increasingly interested in the theatre, and seeks acting tuition from two leading thespians.
5. Amy and Amiability
The Prince is bankrupt. In order to secure funds, Blackadder suggests that his only option is to find a bride and marry into a moneyed family. Beautiful Amy Hardwood, daughter of a cotton magnate, seems a prime candidate.
6. Duel and Duality
The Prince has been seduced and 'soiled' the Duke of Wellington's two nieces. When the triumphant war hero hears of George's indiscretion, he swears to have his revenge - can Blackadder get him out of this one, or will the Royal meet his maker? |
